Facilities Assistant

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the incumbent is responsible to assist with facilities, building, and facilities-related equipment at the Saskatoon base with respect to building repairs and daily maintenance activities. This position will also provide support to related facilities requirements for other bases as directed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with all necessary requirements for building maintenance and maintenance of related equipment.
- Perform groundskeeping duties at Saskatoon base including snow removal, grass cutting, weeding, and watering to ensure company premises are in a neat and tidy condition.
- Responsible for pick-up and delivery of parts and materials and shipping to bases as needed.
- Performing all other duties, responsibilities and assignments as required, including facilities support to all bases.
General Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's vision, mission, and values.
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Continuously update job knowledge by participating in training and other educational opportunities as required.
- Protect company values by keeping information confidential.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.
Qualifications
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma, with a minimum of one years' experience in facilities management and/or operation of related machinery. Carpentry or general "handyman" experience is an asset.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to follow direction and learn new skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Equipment Used
- Standard office and telecommunications equipment.
- Power and hand tools.
- Bobcat.
- Ladders, boom, forklift and other lift equipment.
- Other equipment as required.
Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands
- Ability to lift 100 pounds.
- Able to shovel snow and sweep sidewalks.
- Able to safely move, and provide maintenance services for, facilities equipment.
- Work is done outdoors in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Must quickly adapt to changing assignments.
- Required to act professionally and use mature judgment.
- Ground and/or air travel to remote locations.
